Fitness Check on endocrine disruptors: some room for improvement

There is a need to consolidate legislation on endocrine disruptors and improve testing, according to a JRC-led Fitness Check of chemicals legislation.

The Fitness Check was published together with the Commission Communication on a Chemicals Strategy for Sustainability, which takes up a number of its key findings.

Exposure to chemical substances that can produce endocrine disrupting effects represents one of the most critical public health threats nowadays. In line with the regulatory framework implemented within the European Union to reduce the levels of endocrine disruptors (EDs) for consumers, new and effective methods for ED testing are needed.

The professional associations France Chimie, the FEBEA as well as the Fondation de la Maison de la Chimie, in partnership with the Ministry of Ecological and Inclusive Transition, announce the creation of PEPPER, a public-private platform intended to develop research on identification of endocrine disruptors.

The professional associations France Chimie, the FEBEA and the Fondation de la Maison de la Chimie, in partnership with the French Ministry of Ecological and Solidarity Transition, announce the creation of PEPPER, a public-private platform designed to develop research on the identification of endocrine disruptors. 

As the first platform of its kind, PEPPER aims to become a structure with a European dimension that contributes to making the validation process of methods developed in Europe more reliable and faster and encouraging their use.
